Year 920 AD

Place: Kingdom of Kanakambra

"Are you sure my Lord??? They are almost 100 times more in number than us. Besides they have modern equipments well designed, large number of elephants and horses. We will be gone in one swipe!!!" exclaimed the Senapati (chief of a battalion leading the soldiers). "I trust our royal chief adviser Aacharya Nagrathna Shastri. He and his team has provided us with unique equipments and lotions that can never fail us. Even if the enemy is 1000 times more...... this time....the ball is in our court. Trust me !! Our equipments may seem outdated but these are hidden bombs. One won't even realise when the war started and when it ended. Besides the lotion that we all have applied on our bodies won't allow any fatal injury...even the small injuries will self heal within moments!!!" The chief of the army was speechless but he knew his Lord...the king of Kanakambra...Raja Adhirohah....would never let his people and comrades down. He cared for them more than his life and his actions were as true and powerful as his words.

The scorching heat of the sun blurred the distant images with heat waves spreading throughout the battle ground. A bead of sweat trickled down from the forehead of the soldiers, ready for the combat. Senapati gulped down the lump of nervousness visualizing the enemy slowly approaching them . The adrenaline was at the highest level in the body, which made the soldiers ready to plunge at the onset of the crusade.

It was the first time ever that the kingdom of Kanakambra was threatened to be conquered. The kingdom of " Kanakambra" was heaven on earth. Peaceful, happy, full of life and love for all including the existing flora and fauna. It had all the things that could satisfy its own people in terms of food, luxury and a happy life in sync with nature. The kingdom was small of about 4000 square kilometers (almost the size of present day Goa), independent and self sufficient with all the things that a population needed. With some highly developed scientific skills of growing food and creating underground accommodation it had the capability of feeding the entire human race existing on the planet at that point of time. The people residing were high intellectuals who had solutions to almost all the problems and it was not an exaggeration to say that Kanakambra kingdom was always sufficient in providing everything to its people and surrounding kingdoms with all that they needed. The kingdom was designed in such a way that even if any calamity struck it was capable of saving its entire population alongwith the thriving flora and fauna around. With the help of knowledge passed on by high end intellectuals, who were trained in all kinds of art, architecture, military tactics, finance, science, technology, and alchemy; the Kanakambrians could rule the entire planet. But the people there had no such intentions. They were happy in their small own world. The kingdom was peace loving which did never witness any conflicts from the neighbors. No other rulers ever thought of invading the territory of Kanakambra as they were sufficed with all that they needed. However, it is always said there is never a stability without chaos.

Kanakambra was surrounded on two sides with dense forests, one side with a huge river and the remaining side with mountains. It was however difficult to locate the main palatial building of the kingdom of Kanakambra, as it was located in the midst of dense trees with safely wrapped large wooden doors that looked like large tree trunks. They didn't have huge army though....yet each and every citizen of the kingdom knew different defensive skills and unconventional martial art forms that could help save themselves and others around. They were immensely skilled in archery and there were many who could fire the arrows blind folded over long distance shooting, at a particular angle. The type of arrows they produced were unprecedented and atypical of what a common man would think of. Apart from preparing arrows with poisoned tips, they were capable of building arrows which were wicked and deadly. The shaft of the arrows were not conventional wood, but were combined with an enhanced carbon material which was lighter in weight and extremely durable, that could be reused a multiple times. The arrow head however kept on changing according to the needs and it was such that at times the arrow head could be dislodged like that of the present day rocket and it could function as an independent arrow that could penetrate multiple enemies at a single instance.

Even with all these developed technologies..... today...the soldiers were skeptical as the enemy was even more powerful and huge than they could have imagined. It was for the first time that the ruler from northern part had conquered the mountain ranges to enter the southern part. They had conquered maximum part of the country excluding the south and now Kanakambra was the first southern kingdom that was supposed to be conquered. The Turkish ruler Sherzaman Ali had extended a friendly gesture for allowing him to rule the kingdom with a promise of protection from any external invaders or attempt to evade the peace of the kingdom. The king of Kanakambra was smart enough to know that the friendly gesture had a strong motive to vandalize the peace of the kingdom along with the destruction of the secrecy of the well developed scientific innovations, which were still unknown beyond the innovations centers located in the palace. The Kanakambrians would help anybody in need but they were sure to protect the world they had created by their intellect and valour. They knew the importance of the things they did...if used appropriately could help make the world a better place to live in and if used for selfish reasons, had the capability of destroying the planet. The king of Kanakambra, Raja Adhirohah had politely declined the offer made by Sherzaman. Sherzaman lost his temper and declared a war on Kanakambra. The king knew this would happen and he was sure that this was the only way out. He knew his palace couldn't be easily located and the geographical advantage Kanakambra had for external invasion was best known by him. Only problem was the huge size of the enemy which had to be tackled by immense planning and skills as the kingdom had a limited army to defend. The chief adviser of the kingdom Aacharya Nagrathna, was the only one who could provide solutions to such difficult problems. Aacharya Nagrathna was an expertise in wide range of disciplines ranging from Arthashastra (comprising of statecraft, economic policy and military strategy), Praudyogikiya Anusandhaan (Technological Research), a professional in all the 8 components of Auyurveda (cikitsāyām aṣṭāṅgāyāṃ) and more than everything....... the greatest alchemist of his times. With all his knowledge and intellect Aacharya Nagrathna prepared certain potions which ensured the health and well being of the people. It was believed that the Kanakambrians died only at their will....when they felt that the purpose of their existence has been fulfilled. Many people in the kingdom lived well beyond a century. Nobody knew and could predict the exact age of Aacharya Nagrathna, who always seemed young as if in his mid 40s. Kanakambrians were believed to be immortals and the secrets to their existence was very well preserved by the natives. This definitely might have attracted the foreign invaders to their lands.

Today's war was one that could decide the fate of the kingdom. The Kanakambrians had never witnessed the stress of a war before. If these foreign invaders could capture their lands then it was definitely a call for disaster. Aacharya Nagrathna was always known to combat any of such disasters by his knowledge and will. He had helped the army chiefs train their soldiers using different set of equipments specially designed by him. The war strategy was that of defense and not a direct attack as they had the advantage of their own geographical area long with the fact that they did not want to risk the lives of their army which were inclusive of many brave women of the kingdom. The dense forest and the mountainous regions around could help welcome their army with a surprise and the equipments used for warfare were the ones which the intruders had never witnessed in their lifetimes.

The egoistic Sherzaman still fuming with rage at the disapproval of his proposal, was determined to wipe out Kanakambra completely. He just needed three people at his disposal...the ruler of the kingdom Raja Adhirohah, his beautiful wife Rani Trariti and the greatest known scholar Aacharya Nagrathna. He knew these three were the soul of Kanakambra. They were the ones who were able to take Kanakambra to the glory it was today....and....they were the ones who knew the secret to immortality and immense affluence in the world. If only he could extract these secrets ....he could rule the entire planet and then eliminate these three out of his way. He knew they would be too dangerous to be kept alive. Only thing he needed was their secret. Sherzaman was a staunch believer of the powers that ancient Vedas had in store. He tried and explored many northern regions of India (ancient India) and its neighbouring provinces, where he accidentally came to know about this prosperous, less known hidden kingdom of Kanakambra, which had all the ancient secrets well preserved. He was excited to decode the mysterious superpowers extracted by Kanakambrians from the core of the planet and imbibe it within himself to be a self proclaimed God ruling the universe. He attempted many indirect ways to befriend Raja Adhirohah . All of his efforts fizzled out in luring Raja Adhirohah in his ploy, all thanks to Aacharya Nagrathna and Rani Trariti who never allowed Raja Adhirohah to be caught in midst of vexation. Ultimately, he decided to approach the king directly only to be sent back empty handed. Sherzaman also extended his friendship in the kingdoms surrounding Kanakambra, they readily accepted and decided to stay away from the trouble that Kanakambra had invited. Sherzaman used all of his political conspiracy to isolate Kanakambra from the other kingdoms so that they would give in to his demands. But Kanakambrians knew who they were and capitulated the demands of Sherzaman, which infuriated him even further. Finally, he decided it was no use, wasting time in peaceful negotiations. It was the time to declare a fully-fledged war...to show Kanakambrians the stature and valour of Sherzaman.....

It was almost two days after the war was declared. Nobody knew what was happening. Sherzaman was peevishly waiting for his brave army chief to return with good news. The army of three lakh soldiers, thousands of fully armored elephants, horses, specially designed light and durable swords, special skilled soldiers of archery, navy ships that could enter through the waters surrounding the kingdom, were more than enough to conquer Kanakambra with only around three thousand soldiers. The entire kingdom should have now been under their control. Two days turned to twenty...the hour glass still slipping out time with the grains of sand continued its process relentlessly . The messengers that were sent never returned. Sherzamn's peevishness turned into anxiety and his mind began to picture something worse. Then on the 21st day a single soldier returned....shattered....on the brink of death. He was immediately taken for treatment. When he was conscious enough to describe what had happened, Sherzaman sat by his side, looked into his eyes demanding the entire timeline. Recollecting the scenario the soldier was taken into a trace wherein he visualised the worst and the unimaginable.

" Rapla....What happened tell me? Where is my army? My chief?" demanded Sherzaman... "All disappeared into thin air my lord!!!!" said Rapla with his trembling voice and a devastated soul..." What do you mean by disappeared into thin air? Tell me what happened exactly!!..." asked Sherzaman anxiously. Rapla mustered all his courage to recollect the exact timeline of events. " My Lord!!! I was a part of last battalion that entered the battle field . The chief declared a war and we started encroaching towards the Kanakambrians and their king Adhirohah. The Kanakambrians never moved a single step from their positions but remained at their respective places with a defensive posture. Our first battalion that was about five hundred yards from the enemy, suddenly started experiencing certain unexplained tremors. Within a few moments dust started covering up the space above. Our vision blurred....we weren't able to understand anything. My instinct told me to just leave the place and run away....I just did the same...I..I didnt realise which direction I was running....I lost my balance due to some obstacle and fell into a pit covered with mud. There I could see things which I had never seen in my life. One of my friends just turned into ash in matter of seconds. Everything on land just turned into dust...as if nothing existed. The entire land turned barren with no traces of our people. What remained was some of the armoury and metal swords. Far away in the heat I could see the Kanakambrians slowly tracing their way back. My Lord...I dont know how to say but it is a fact...our enemy was wiped out without a single drop of blood....no body...no bones....everything was cleared out....just in a swipe...." after Rapla finished...Sherzaman saw in his eyes a vacant gaze....." Rapla....what about my naval officers...didn't they reach..." asked Sherzaman... Rapla composed himself " Yes my lord...they did...and unfortunately I witnessed the aftermath of the situation. " Rapla took a deep pause...Sherzaman patiently waited for Rapla to speak up..." My..My Lord... our ships did enter the bank. As per my knowledge there should have been around twenty ships... with around thousand soldiers....I saw ships entering the river banks as planned.... but...without our soldiers. I escaped the battle ground thinking that I could slip out of the place through the river...which made me run towards it. I entered into the blank ship somehow... only to realise that the bodies of the fellow soldiers were scattered all around the shipwreck. Again no blood...it seemed they died an instant death... their eyes and mouth were open and their body had turned pale white as if devoid of blood. I checked out for anyone around....didn't find any Kanakambrians. I scrutinised every ship,...just to find the same scenario everywhere. It made me feel sick. I wanted to bring back some of the soldiers but....if I was dead may be things wouldn't be conveyed to you. The place was no longer safe...I didn't think for a second and plunged into the river to reach the other side. I had to traverse the entire forest to reach you my Lord!!! I don't know how much time I took to reach you but I am atleast satisfied that I could convey what happened in the war..." said Rapla smiling weakly. Sherzaman got up from his place....held the face of Rapla in his hands....smiled....suddenly his expression changed....his eyes turned red with rage. With a growling heavy shriek he took his sword and slaughtered Rapla into two. The entire room was scattered with traces and pieces of Raplas body. Sherzaman's entire body was smeared with Rapla's blood. " Rapla.....I would have been satisfied if you had told me about my conquer...you filthy piece of shit...calling yourself a soldier...you deserved an even more brutal death...atleast others sacrificed themselves for me....you came here not to serve me but save yourself....You loser!!!!...Calling yourself a soldier!!!! Ahhh!!! .....Rot in hell buddy....Rot in hell... I will make sure....Raja Adhirohah joins you too... very soon.......

Ahoy....Adhirohah... start counting your last days....your time of glory is going to end soon....." The entire palace shook with Sherzaman's brusque. Sherzaman's eyes were full of rage that accounted for a terrifying time the kingdom of Kanakambra was soon to witness.

Present Day...

" What happened to Kanakambra then dude...was Sherzaman successful in destroying it?" Aadinath was extremely curious to know about the history of his ancestors which linked his present life . After having dinner, Visoka decided to revive the lost memories of Aadinath by slowly beginning with the past. Aadinath could remember only a few instances of the story but could not recollect the entire thing. He could specifically remember three names...Aacharya Nagrathna....Raja Adhirohah and the Sultan of Turkey Sherzaman Ali. Visoka was just about to continue when another colleague of theirs came to them to deliver Aacharya's message " Aadinath!!! Aacharya has summoned you right away....". Without any further delay Aadinath proceeded in the direction of where his colleague led him.

Aacharya's room was brightly lit as though some flashlights were installed in the room. The moon was slowly arriving the center of the room and the mirrors reflected the moonlight at a right place with right brightness. Aadinath felt an acute sense of calmness, the moment he entered the room. He had the feeling of been happy, rejuvenated and peaceful, that seemed to wipe out his restlessness and curiosity. Aacharya directed Aadinath to have a seat at the brightest spot in the room which was exactly besides the arranged potions. Aadinath obliged and observed the pattern in which, the things were arranged. Aacharya pulled out a small pouch from underneath the platform on which the potions were arranged. He pulled out a small metal plate cut in rectangular shape of 4 mm*2 mm* 5 mm dimension. Without a word Aacharya inserted the metallic plate into the slit of the key and with a sound of a small click the key opened its eight corrugated wings. Each wing of the key could be rotated along its own circumference. The wings of the key had to be rotated in a specific direction with specific rotation counts to reveal what was actually inside it. Aadinath looked with awe and wide open eyes, unable to imagine the way a secret was preserved. More than knowing the secret....the path leading to it was astonishing. He didn't know what was inside. He didn't know why the potions were arranged the way they are. He didn't know what rituals was he going to carry out tonight. In simple words....he knew nothing of what was happening and why was it happening. He was just an observer who was alienated from his own world. Aadinath's thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the trunk he had brought along. Aacharya removed a dairy from the trunk, which Aadinath's grandfather had given him. Aacharya began skimming through the pages and stopped at a page carefully reading it. It had some inscriptions which only Aacharya knew.

" Aadinath...do you know what these symbols are son? " Aadinath observed the inscriptions carefully...it was combination of some numbers, directions and weird symbols. " Aacharya... I feel it is strongly related to the opening of this key...but I really do not understand how are we going to do it." Aacharya smiled...Aadinath was right....It was a code to open the wings of the keys. Depending upon the type of process there were different combinations given. Almost twenty listed in the book!!!! The count of the wings started from the first symbol represented in the process. These symbols were inscribed below the wings towards its edges. Depending upon clockwise and anticlockwise rotations, the directions were given for a particular wing of the key. Aacharya chose a particular process which was enlisted and started the rotating operations on the key. After correct combinations, there was a loud click. Aacharya settled the key on the platform besides the potions. The topmost part of the key which had the ॐ symbol inscribed on it opened up as though some internal force pressurized it. Inside the key was a hollow structure which could fit a tube like thing with pointed end. Aacharya then took out a tube filled with a eminent blue fluid and vertically inserted it inside the key. Within a few moments...the fluid inside the key started to glow. Aacharya took a measured portion of the fluid and some solid from the remaining five potions around in a small copper disk and measured about a microlitre of the blue glowing fluid. He mixed it with the contents in the disk. After the entire process was complete, Aacharya handed over the paste to Aadinath and asked him to consume the same with the caution. He was forbidden to move and drink any liquid after its consumption. Aadinath did as he was said....nothing happened for a few moments....but then he started sweating profusely...wanting to drink water....he could hear only the voice of his Aacharya asking him to stay at his position...Aadinath could not understand what was happening with him...Aacharya asked him to close his eyes and concentrate. He did as he was told...and....and his world turned around....he was back in time to the year 2007 celebrating his 18th birthday....

Meanwhile......

" Do you really know where you are leading us Mithilesh?" enquired Augadh. Mithilesh was lost in his own thoughts.....he just kept on driving. It was almost 7 hours since they left home. They reached Dalhousie....where Mithilesh halted his car. Augadh looked around the place.....it was pitch dark with chillness increasing in the surroundings. Mithilesh turned towards Augadh and said " Augadh we should halt here for few days....Till then I will get help so that we can trace the whereabouts of Aadinath." Augadh kept on gazing Mithilesh as if he had some thousands of questions encircling his mind. " You seem to know this place quite well!!!!!" exclaimed Augadh still staring at Mithilesh. Mithilesh couldn't keep a steady eye contact but smiled and said " Yes...Augadh you are right and I have brought you here so that even you get acquainted with a few facts that were unknown to you." " What kind of an acquaintance are you talking about Mithilesh? And what are the things I need to know?" asked a puzzled Augadh. " Rest for today in the farm house Augadh...I will tell you everything." saying this Mithilesh led Augadh to the farm house. It was well guarded and secured farm house, far from the hustle and bustle of the outside world. A beautiful place with lush green trees around. The farm house was no less than a small heaven on earth. The farm house had lot of caretakers who were delighted with Mithilesh's arrival." Greetings Sir!!! such a pleasant surprise!!!" exclaimed one of the caretakers. " I arrived without prior intimation I... I... hope things can be managed..." said Mithilesh. " Of course sir it is always a pleasure to serve you..." replied the caretaker. "This is my brother in law..we both will be staying here for a few days..." said Mithilesh. " Of course sir.... I will inform Guruji...he will be delighted to see you...."Mithilesh interrupted the caretaker..." Please don't.....I will personally meet him....I..I have some work here...after that I can comfortably meet him..." " That is perfectly fine sir....please make yourself comfortable"...saying this the caretaker handed him the key to his room. The room was on the first floor. The moment they arrived at he door...Augadh was surprised...the door plate read ' Room number 108...Dr. Mithilesh Mahajan'.
